Magnolia grandiflora seeds, cleaned from pulp and washed, will be sent to you in wet tissue and ready for stratification. If by the time they arrive to you they have any traces of mold (I found it very common) wash them in 4 parts of water mixed with 1 part of hydrogen peroxide, afterwards, place them on the new tissue, wet it and put in a ziplock bag. Keep it in the fridge for 2-3 month checking regularly and washing whenever required.
Last winter I have my seeds in perlite and it was such a hassle to check and wash them! Thus the kitchen towel is more convenient.
After stratification sow the seeds 1 cm deep in the medium for seeds and seedlings. The sprouts should start emerging after about a month. Don't worry if the seeds have mold! I sowed the "hopeless" looking seeds just because it was a pity to throw away and all of them (OK, maybe almost) had germinated.
Magnolia grandiflora is very slow growing plant, require patience and care.
